Fitness Tracking

Sentiv tracks your activity based on your GPS location and reports back your distance, location, time elapsed and elevation gain/loss.

From the home page of the mobile app, select "Start Activity" and then select "Start Activity" again. Now the app is ready to track your activity. You can move the app into background and put it in your pocket. The app will continue to track your activity. When you're finished working out, just select "Stop" and "Save" and your activity will be saved. You can view your activity from the "History" page in the navigation drawer.

If you are participating in a CauseFit then any qualifying activity you track using Sentiv will be counted towards your fundraiser automatically.

For step-based challenges, Sentiv integrates with Fitbit, Apple Health, Garmin and GoogleFit. See how to connect to these wearables devices below.
Based on many factors including pace, elevation change, location, and accelerometer data, Sentiv logs your activity as either a Run, Walk, Bike or Hike and then counts it towards any of your CauseFit events that corresponds to that type of activity.

Sentiv pulls data from the wearable servers every half an hour. It does NOT continuously pull data from their servers to avoid battery drainage and too many server calls. It will sync twice every hour i.e. at 28 minutes and 58 minutes within an hour. You should see these timestamps in the last updated time next to your steps.

If you have your Google Fit connect, then there is a chance that your steps from Google Fit mobile app is way off from Sentiv at times and this is because Google Fit does not upload all the steps from its app to its servers continuously. What you see on Sentiv should match with the Google Fit website at https://fit.google.com/u/0/. Google Fit syncs its steps to its servers in batches due to which it could behind by few hours (sometimes 5-8 hours), in which case Sentiv would be few hours behind; however, no need to worry or panic. At the end of the day, Google Fit makes sure it syncs everything to its server by end of the day which means Sentiv will have your correct steps for the entire day by end of the day. You will NOT lose any steps in this process. Sentiv goes back up to 5 days to collect the steps history so you have nothing to worry.

If for any reason you think your steps are off for previous day i.e. yesterday from what you see on your wearable device then please contact us at support@sentiv.fit

Sentiv has an in-built algorithm to detect what activity the user is performing. If the algorithm detects any driving then it will flag the entire activity as driving or vehicle. We recommend to immediately stop your activity before getting into a car.

If you are cycling or biking, then we recommend to keep the phone in your pocket or attached to your body since the algorithm detects body movements to decide what activity the user is performing. If your phone is inside your backpack or attached on the bicycle then the algorithm might not work so well and there is a good chance it will flag the activity as driving.

Due to our unique motivational fitness challenges, we are required to automatically detect user movements to detect the activity. This is to prevent any kind of cheating or miss use of the activity during challenges.
